Every year, fire departments across Colorado are called to protect the state’s land and communities from fire and other natural disasters. El Pomar has been proud to support Colorado’s volunteer fire departments through the Wildland Fire Fund since 2002.
El Paso County fire mitigation efforts get $500,000 boost from El Pomar, Anschutz foundations
Liz Forster, The Gazette El Paso County fire officials preparing for a potentially extreme fire season received an extra $500,000 for mitigation efforts this week from two Colorado foundations.
Fund Spotlight: Wildland Fire Fund
El Pomar’s Wildland Fire Fund was created in rapid response to Colorado’s devastating wildfire season of 2002 including Hayman, Missionary Ridge, and Trinidad fires. In addition to emergency response grants, the Wildland Fire Fund also provides grants throughout the year to Colorado fire agencies seeking support for personal protection equipment and supplies.
