The Boys and Girls Clubs of Pueblo County announced this week that President and Chief Executive Officer Melanie Bravo will be leaving the club to accept a new position with Boys and Girls Club of America.Bravo — who’s served as the club’s president and CEO since June 2009 — will begin her new position as director of emerging markets and solutions on March 6, just three days after her final day as president and CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Pueblo County.

“I really grew up in this club. Actually, my mom got her first job at the club on the same day she found out she was pregnant with me, so I’ve literally been at the club my whole life,” Bravo said.

“As a young person, I was a member from the time I was 5 to 18 years old. I graduated from every program possible and just loved the club. And then 10 years after I left the club as a club member, I was able to come back and lead my former club, which was always really my dream job.In her new role, Bravo will work with Boys and Girls Clubs across the country to help them find creative solutions to their financial and logistical problems.

Using her past experiences as the club’s director, Bravo said she will work hands-on with clubs across the country to utilize their individual strengths to best address the problems of each club.

“Every one of us has a certain skill-set that can be used to create wonderful clubs for kids, so I hope that I can build relationships with the new people that I’ll be working with, to help them identify what they’re really good at and use that to really make the clubs a better place,” she said.

“I love working with people, especially when the benefit is the kids.”
